Staff Information
Kathy Lewis -
Hi! My name is Kathy Lewis and I am the Child Care Director here at the Jasper County Youth Center. I have been a part of the center since 2006 and have loved every minute of it. It is a great honor and privilege to be able to spend the day with your children.
I attended the Kankakee Valley school system for grade, middle and high school, and then went on to receive my degree in Early Childhood Education at Purdue Calumet. While in my senior year I participated in a vocational child care class and found that working with children is where my heart is. Since then I have worked in the childcare setting for almost 10 years and wouldn't trade it for anything. It is the most amazing gift to watch a child as they discover something new and take that knowledge and put it to use.
My door is always open. Please feel free to stop in with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you and your family!
Katie Hall -
My name is Katie Hall, and I am excited that you are visiting the JCYC website! I have been the Jasper / Newton County CASA Director since August 2008. I manage child abuse or neglect cases for both counties as well as the before/after school and summer camp programs for the school-aged children. I attended Manchester College after graduating from high school with honors. When I am not at the center, I enjoy golfing, shopping, watching football, and being around my Siberian huskies. I am blessed that I have the opportunity to be around and meet such great people every single day at work, and I would like to thank the parents who allow me to be a part of their child's life.
Cheryl Baggerly - I am the lead teacher in the infant room at the Jasper County Youth Center and have been for five years. I have lived in the Jasper county area since I was a little girl. I love the small town, friendly feeling of the area. My husband and I have two wonderful children who have blessed us with two grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy taking walks and like to do scrapbooking, but my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I received my certification as a Child Development Associate in 2010. The infants are so much fun to work with. I love seeing them grow for the first year of their life and reach their milestones while in my room. It is great to be able to watch them as they grow and move on to new classrooms and then eventually leave the center as they head off for kindergarten.
Tasia Dobson - I have worked at the Jasper County Youth Center for six years. I began that time as a teacher in the two year old classroom for one year. I have since spent the last five years as the lead teacher in the three year old classroom. In 2010 I became certified as a Child Development Associate. I live in rural Rensselaer with my wonderful husband and 2 great kids, Jayden, 3 and Kiera, 1. In my spare time I love to scrapbook and spend time with my family. My passion is being with children. It is an honor to spend my days teaching your children and watching them grow. It is interesting that in teaching the children, I also learn something new from them each day.
Kim Hewitt -
I am the lead teacher for the four year old class. I have been at Jasper County Youth Center for nearly ten years. Seven of those years have been spent as the lead teacher in the four year old classroom. In 2010, I received my certification as a Child Development Associate. Rensselaer has been my home for the past 24 years. I am the proud mother of four grown children. I am also happy to be called grandma by three beautiful grandchildren. I love spending time outdoors, going for walks, playing golf, and riding my bike. I also love watching sports. The years that I have spent working with the children at the Jasper County Youth Center have been such a joy!
Robin Bulington -
I am married with three great children. I have worked as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at the Jasper County Youth Center for the past nineteen years. I received my certification as a Child Development Associate in 2010. I take pride in preparing my students for Kindergarten and the rest of their school years. I believe if they start out with a good foundation it will help them to become a stronger student in the long run. I love going to Rensselaer school activities and seeing children that I had in Pre-school excel in academics and sports. In my spare time I enjoy fishing, camping, taking pictures and anything my children are involved in. I also enjoy hanging out with family and friends.
Kim Mitchell -
I would like to say hello to everyone checking out the JCYC website. My name is Mrs. Kim Mitchell, and I am a lead teacher. I have worked at the JCYC for eight years. I have a CDA and worked very hard for that. I worked with the one year olds for the first half of my career and now I have the pleasure of being the two year old teacher. The two’s are very fun and challenging at the same time. They can make your day with the things they say. I have helped out in the infant room and I love to cuddle with babies. I also have four great kids of my own, three girls and one boy. They keep my nights very full and crazy busy.
